Jarvis Evans, a 34-year-old African American man from South Holland, Illinois, was killed on April 10, 2022. Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to a report of a gunshot victim in the 1900 block of Memorial Drive and found Evans suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving measures by responding officers and treatment at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, he was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m. The Cook County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man and charged him with murder. Authorities said the suspect and Evans were known to each other, but did not disclose further details about their relationship.
