Monjero D. Speed, a 31-year-old African American man from Sauk Village, Illinois, was shot and killed on December 21, 2021. Sauk Village police were called about gunfire at approximately 9 p.m. in the area of 2900 Sauk Trail. Officers found Speed wounded and he was taken to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dyer, Indiana, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators say the shooting occurred outside Tony’s Food and Liquor on East Sauk Trail, but reports note an unexplained gap: how Speed moved from the 1700 block to the 2900 block of Sauk Trail after being wounded. The Sauk Village Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force continued the probe and identified Billy J. Adams of Ford Heights as a suspect; an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder was issued. Anyone with information on Adams’ whereabouts was asked to contact the Sauk Village Police Department Crime Tip Line.

Did anyone in the area that night see what happened or know anything about Adams’ movements?
