Geoffrey Rowry, 30, was found with a gunshot wound in the courtyard of an apartment complex on East Washington Street in Bloomington, Illinois, on November 4, 2021. Known as Bubba and active as a rapper, he was transported to Carle BroMenn Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. that evening. The Bloomington Police Department opened a homicide investigation and initially had no arrests or identified suspects while asking the community for tips.

Investigators continued the case into 2023; in June 2023 Bloomington Police arrested Osman Gudda McLaurin, a 26-year-old held in the Illinois Department of Corrections on an unrelated weapons conviction, on multiple charges tied to Rowry’s death, including counts alleging murder and felon-in-possession of a weapon. Geoffrey’s death was the seventh homicide in the Bloomington-Normal area in 2021 and had a pronounced impact on his family and the local music scene.

If anyone knew Geoffrey, his whereabouts that night, or has information relevant to the investigation, please come forward.
