Keith Shanklin, a 49-year-old Black man from Harvey, Illinois, was fatally shot at about 6:11 a.m. on October 10, 2021. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds at the Shell gas station at 273 E. 147th Street in Harvey and was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m. by the Cook County medical examiner’s office; his death was ruled a homicide.

Shanklin’s killing occurred during a year of sharply rising gun violence in Harvey. The city of roughly 20,000 residents recorded 30 homicides in 2021, most victims being Black males. Local authorities opened an investigation into Shanklin’s death, but public details about arrests, suspects, or charges in his case remain scarce.

Does anyone have information about Shanklin, his routine, or that morning at the Shell station that could help investigators or the family?
