Antwone L. Brown, a 48-year-old man from Katy, Texas, was shot and killed on July 16, 2021, in the 500 block of Washington Avenue in Madison, Illinois. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls about a shooting at about 11:51 PM and found Brown with gunshot wounds; he was transported to a St. Louis hospital where he died.
Investigators from the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis and the Madison Police Department identified 48-year-old Marvin E. Treadway of Madison as the primary suspect and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder under alternate theories. Treadway was taken into custody in Swansea with assistance from the U.S. Marshal Service and held on $3,000,000 bond. Treadway’s father, 68-year-old Marvin E. Bradley, was charged with two felony counts of obstructing justice, accused of giving false information and concealing evidence, including a firearm, and held on $50,000 bond. The two men were known to investigators, and Brown and Treadway knew each other; authorities did not disclose a motive.
Does anyone have information about Brown’s time in Madison or about the events on the night of July 16, 2021?
