Kieshaun Lamar Thatch, 17, of Champaign, Illinois, was fatally shot on July 2, 2021, while attending a post-funeral gathering for his uncle at the American Legion post on Hickory Street. The shooting happened in the afternoon; more than 100 people were at the event but initial cooperation with law enforcement was limited.

Investigators say Kieshaun was struck multiple times after a gunman arrived at the gathering. Four other people were seriously injured and more than 100 shell casings were recovered. Authorities identified 20-year-old Davucci Craig as the shooter; he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Craig also faced separate charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal damage to property after a suffocated dog was found at his home. Reports cite witness testimony and a confession to a family member as linking Craig to the shooting.

Kieshaun was remembered by family as a respectable young man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing video games, and joking with his twin brother, Omarion. Does anyone who attended that gathering or who knew Kieshaun have information that could help clarify what happened that afternoon?
