Timothy Nesbit was 16 when he died after being struck by a gunshot on June 24, 2021, inside a home on Elim Avenue in Zion, Illinois. Emergency crews arrived after a 5:36 a.m. call; paramedics took Timothy to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour after arrival. Detectives have classified the death as accidental.
Authorities say Timothy and a 20-year-old woman, Winter L. Wright, were reportedly playing with a gun when it discharged. Several other juveniles were in the home and fled the scene after the shot. Wright was arrested June 26, 2021, and charged with involuntary manslaughter and three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon; she was held on $250,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court July 14, 2021. A 39-year-old resident, Katrina Marshall, was arrested on charges related to interfering with officers and battery while aid was being rendered.
