Quintin Turner, 34, of Martin, Tennessee, was shot to death on May 10, 2021, after his vehicle came to a stop along Interstate 57 just south of Arcola, Illinois, near the Douglas–Coles county line. Memorial and obituary records confirm his identity and date of death. A report to state police about pedestrians on I-57 in the early morning led to a car found on the shoulder near Arcola; inside, an 11-year-old boy was discovered asleep in the back seat beside his father’s body. Illinois State Police responded to the scene and investigators focused on another adult who had been traveling with the family.
Authorities identified Christopher D. McGaha, 29, of Gurnee, as a suspect; he was later located in Champaign and taken into custody. Tributes and funeral notices from Turner’s West Tennessee community appeared online in the days after the fatal shooting.
Does anyone with knowledge of the travel on I-57 that night or the people involved have information to share?
