Delmar McPhail Jr., a 23-year-old African American man, was killed on March 27, 2021, during a shooting on a party bus in River Grove, Illinois. The bus was stopped at River Road and Belmont Avenue in the early morning when someone in a vehicle opened fire. McPhail was one of four people shot; he died of his injuries and the Cook County medical examiner identified him as the deceased. Three other passengers were wounded and survived.

After the shooting the bus driver continued driving to Franklin Park, where the vehicle was parked. The River Grove Police Department and the West Suburban Major Crime Task Force are investigating, but as of the latest reports no arrests have been made and no suspects have been taken into custody. A GoFundMe was set up to support McPhail’s family; many questions remain about who carried out the attack.

If anyone was on that bus or saw the vehicle that fired on it, please come forward with information.
