Ivan Perez-Garcia, a 25-year-old Hispanic man from Romeoville, Illinois, was shot and killed around midnight on October 25, 2020, while sitting in his parked car on Seeser Street in Joliet’s St. Patrick’s Neighborhood. He was transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
According to the investigation, an unknown suspect approached from a nearby vehicle, displayed a handgun and began firing into Perez-Garcia’s car, striking him multiple times. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, about 5 feet 5 inches, medium build, clean-shaven with buzzed dark hair, wearing a gray full-zipped hoodie.
Four days after the killing Joliet police arrested 41-year-old Jorge Rosas of Joliet and charged him with three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon; a warrant set bond at $5 million. The police chief called the shooting senseless and acknowledged the role of detectives and the Illinois State Police Crime Lab in securing the arrest warrant.
If anyone knew Ivan Perez-Garcia, saw activity on Seeser Street that night, or has information about the shooting, please come forward.
