Shavontae Towers, a 23-year-old African American man, was found dead on August 26, 2020, in his apartment in the 15200 block of Ashland Avenue in Harvey, Illinois. Harvey police located him unresponsive during a wellness check requested by Oak Lawn police; Towers had sustained two gunshot wounds to the head. Earlier that evening a gunshot victim arrived at Advocate Christ Medical Center and said the shooting occurred at Towers’ address.

Harvey police believe the shooter or shooters were known to Towers and the other victim, since all were inside the apartment before the shooting. The investigation led to the arrest of 23-year-old Antonio Moore of Bronzeville, who was charged with two counts of murder. Police say Moore allegedly shot and killed Towers during an attempted robbery and that Moore and Towers knew each other, which may have allowed Moore access to the apartment.

What details about the evening of August 26 would help explain how the shooting began or who else was present?
