On May 23, 2008, about 2:00 a.m., 22-year-old Kiaira Kishay Jones was shot and killed on the sidewalk outside The Bottle Factory on Roland Street in Salisbury, Maryland. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found a large crowd exiting the venue; multiple shots had been fired into that crowd and Jones was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound. She was taken to a nearby medical center and later died from her injuries. Investigators say Jones was believed not to have been the intended target.

The Salisbury Police Department opened an intensive homicide investigation and identified a suspect. In June 2008 it was reported that 20-year-old Don Manuel Hanna, Jr. of Princess Anne had been arrested in connection with Jones’s death. The case remains a tragic example of bystander harm from gunfire; few public details are available about motive or circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Did anyone in Salisbury around Roland Street that night see something that could help piece together what happened?
