Christopher Kelly, 23, was shot and killed on August 15, 2020, in the parking lot of Star Fox Liquor on West Bloomington Road in Champaign, Illinois. Kelly was inside a parked vehicle when multiple vehicles reportedly pulled into the lot and an argument turned into sustained gunfire. More than 40 shell casings were recovered and several cars were heavily damaged.

Two men have been implicated in the case. Trevoy Fonville, 26, of Champaign, was arrested on August 27, 2020, and charged with first-degree murder. A second man, Johnnie Holbrook, 25, of Champaign, was charged with first-degree murder on February 25, 2022; Holbrook was already in custody in Kankakee County on unrelated charges when he was charged in Kelly’s death. The investigation remains ongoing and authorities are seeking more information.
