Jazzlyn Robinson was 15 when she was fatally shot at her home on 218th Street in Sauk Village, Illinois, on June 4, 2020. The shooting occurred about 8:50 p.m. while she was reportedly getting her hair braided; she was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago and died there the next day. The Cook County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide from a gunshot wound to the head.

Family members say a male relative who did not live at the house was present and left before police arrived; police have said they were seeking a warrant for that relative’s arrest but have disclosed few details. The family believes the gun belonged to that relative, though authorities have not confirmed that. Nearly a year after the killing no arrests or charges had been announced, and the family says they continue to press for more information and justice.

If anyone knew Jazzlyn or has information about who was at the home that evening, please share what you know.
