Jason Edward Ahern Jr., 22, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head in Crestwood, Illinois, on December 12, 2019. Crestwood police received a call about shots fired around 3:08 p.m.; officers discovered Ahern in the rear parking lot of an apartment building and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

The Southwest Suburban Major Crimes Task Force assisted in the investigation. Police identified four vehicles of interest: a white Mercedes SUV, a dark-colored Dodge Durango with tinted windows, a silver Infiniti, and a Nissan Altima, and asked residents to check home security footage for sightings of those vehicles. No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified and the investigation remains active.
