On November 26, 2019, 34-year-old Deangelo Curtis was shot and killed inside a residence in the 1100 block of South Seeley Avenue in Ford Heights, Illinois. Deputies arriving about 12:22 p.m. found Curtis unresponsive with a firearm in his possession; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say 28-year-old Timothy McClendon Jr. forcibly entered the home and opened fire. Curtis returned fire; a 36-year-old woman who was present was struck and taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, where she was stabilized. McClendon also had gunshot injuries and sought treatment at a hospital in Dyer, Indiana, before being transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center and stabilized. McClendon was charged with first-degree murder, home invasion, and violation of an order of protection and was denied bail.

Curtis’s funeral services were held December 8, 2019, at Leak and Sons Funeral Home in Country Club Hills. If anyone has information about the events at the South Seeley Avenue residence on November 26, 2019, please come forward.
