Hunter Julian Krzysik was a 13-year-old boy from Bensenville, Illinois, who died on August 8, 2019. He was at a friend’s house when the boys were handling a gun that had not been secured; Hunter was struck by a bullet to the head and later died despite attempts to save him. Authorities ruled his death an accidental shooting.
The 14-year-old friend who fired the gun was charged with involuntary manslaughter and placed under house arrest. The community responded with grief and support: a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and create a memorial raised over $21,000. Hunter was remembered as kind and gentle, and he loved baseball and wrestling.
If anyone knew Hunter, the circumstances of that day, or has information about unsecured firearms in homes in Bensenville, please share what you know.
