Joshua Bey, 24, of Elgin, Illinois, was killed on August 6, 2019, in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Fleetwood Drive. He and a friend had met two brothers, Xavier L. Butler, 28, and Isaiah Y. Butler, 26, to discuss an argument involving two women. The meeting escalated when Bey drew a gun as Xavier approached; although Bey held the gun at his side, a struggle followed.

During the struggle, Xavier Butler, who was also armed, shot Bey and then took Bey’s gun. In the chaos Xavier accidentally shot his brother Isaiah in the thumb. As Bey lay dying on the ground, the Butler brothers kicked him before fleeing to Milwaukee. Both brothers were arrested and later pleaded guilty to charges related to the shooting. Xavier Butler received a 30-year sentence for armed violence (Class X felony) and Isaiah Butler received 15 years for second-degree murder (Class 1 felony), each receiving credit for 937 days served in the Kane County Jail.

Does anyone have information about the people involved or remember the events that morning in Elgin?
