Michael Rivers, a 27-year-old African American man, was shot multiple times and killed on March 24, 2019, at about 2:30 a.m. while attending a birthday party at an Airbnb on the 6200 block of Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, Illinois. He was found by police with severe gunshot wounds, taken to Loyola University Medical Center, and pronounced dead there.

The investigation led to the arrest of 29-year-old Mashawn Pringle Jr., who was apprehended by the Berwyn Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force.
