Darrell Webb, a 56-year-old African American man from Harvey, Illinois, was found dead on September 29, 2018, on a living room couch in a Dixmoor home where he sometimes stayed to help care for an ailing relative. The house appeared ransacked and bullet casings were scattered on the floor; Webb had been shot in the upper body and his death was classified as a homicide.
Family described Webb as a hardworking man with no criminal record who had spent his life working for a transport company and a railroad. He left behind an adult son and several grandchildren. The Dixmoor Police Department, with assistance from the Illinois State Police, led the investigation; Detective Hashi Jaco said the probe was ongoing but no arrests or clear motive had been announced.
Anyone who knew Webb, saw activity at that Dixmoor residence around September 29, 2018, or has information about this killing is asked to contact investigators.
