Taniyah Williams, a 20-year-old African American woman from Danville, Illinois, was found dead in her Lape Street home on July 5, 2018. She and 21-year-old LaTrey Reed were discovered after police responded to a report of an unresponsive male; both victims suffered apparent gunshot wounds, and the Vermilion County Coroner, Jane McFadden, confirmed gunshot injuries with autopsies scheduled.

Taniyah was described as strong-willed and determined and had attended Danville High School. Police conducted interviews with neighbors and other potential witnesses as part of an extensive investigation, but no arrests were made immediately after the killings and the case remained open. Families and the community have been urged to come forward with information.
