Danny Robert Lee, known as Danny, was 40 when he was fatally shot on June 15, 2018. A self-employed carpenter and landscaper from Collinsville, Illinois, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Rams football games. He was born March 6, 1978, in Belleville and is survived by his partner Amber Williams, daughter Danielle Lee, mother Penny Basarich and father Gary Lee.
The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. on Illinois Avenue in Collinsville. Neighbour Robert Beckman shot Danny in the head with a Browning 12-gauge shotgun, then fled the scene. Beckman was later apprehended after crashing his vehicle into a guardrail; he admitted he was upset at the time. Beckman had prior incidents of unlawful use of a weapon and battery.
Danny’s family held a visitation and a Celebration of Life. Does anyone in Collinsville have information about what led to the confrontation that night or knew Danny and can share memories?
