Alexis Burks was 21 when she was found dead on June 8, 2018, in Dolton, Illinois. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was discovered in an alley near 146th Street and Woodlawn Avenue. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.
Alexis had recently moved to Merrillville, Indiana, and worked as a postal worker. Her body was found with no blood spatter around, so investigators believed she might have been transported to the alley after being shot elsewhere. Dolton police canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance footage and information about her last movements and interactions, but no arrests were announced immediately after the killing and authorities had not released details about suspects or a motive.
Community activists and family sought justice and continued to press for information. If anyone saw Alexis on or before June 8, 2018, or has surveillance or other information that could help the investigation, please come forward.
