Raymond Dyson, 29, was shot and killed in a parking lot in the first block of Longwood Place in Elgin on April 29, 2018. Born July 4, 1988, in Chicago and raised in LeClaire Courts, he was known to family and friends as Ray-Ray and is survived by his mother Pansy Dyson, children Brooklynn Rae Dyson and Jaxen Isaiah Dyson, and siblings Katrina, Donald, and Doretha Dyson.

On the day of the shooting Dyson and his friend Mark McDaniel, 26, met with Travaris Stevenson, 26, and Lee Spain, 32, in Elgin to buy a pound of marijuana. Stevenson shot Dyson in the back of the head and shot McDaniel twice in the back; Stevenson and Spain fled on foot but were arrested about a half-mile away roughly 20 minutes later. Stevenson was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and armed violence; prosecutors presented phone photos of Stevenson with firearms he was prohibited from possessing while on parole. Stevenson was later convicted and sentenced to 95 years; Spain faced first-degree murder and related charges.

Does anyone who knew Ray-Ray or who was in that area that day have information that could add to the record?
