Murad Talib, 39, was shot to death on November 20, 2017, in the driveway of his home on Ishnala Drive in Palos Heights, Illinois. Neighbors reported hearing three gunshots around 5 p.m.; Talib, who lived in Tinley Park, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.

Palos Heights police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force investigated and collected evidence at the scene, including placards in the garage and driveway. Investigators said the shooting did not appear random and that Talib and the shooter were acquainted. About 25 detectives worked the case, but the shooter had fled before police arrived.

Separately, on November 22, 2017, Elston Stevenson, 57, of Chicago, fired a shot into Talib’s open grave during the burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park and was arrested; he was later sentenced in federal court for that act. The homicide investigation into Talib’s death remains active — does anyone have information that could help investigators?
