On the evening of November 18, 2017, 48-year-old Todd Daniel Feldkamp of Effingham, Illinois, was found dead in the backyard of a residence at 1660 N. Edward Street in Decatur after Decatur police responded to reports of gunshots shortly before 9 p.m. Feldkamp had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A 25-year-old man from Effingham was also found nearby with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Keirsean Bond, 26, of Decatur lured Feldkamp and the other man to Decatur under the pretense of a drug deal, intending to rob and kill them. Bond was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery; he pleaded not guilty, denying he was the shooter but acknowledging he arranged the meeting. In August 2018 Bond was convicted of first-degree murder for Feldkamp’s death and of the attempted murder of the other victim, and received a lengthy prison sentence.
Todd Feldkamp was born December 2, 1968, in Effingham and had worked 15 years as a sanitation engineer for Allied Waste Services before returning to Effingham in 2005. He is survived by his wife Annette, two daughters, Alex and Sydney, and two granddaughters, and was remembered as comical and sarcastic. Did anyone in Effingham or Decatur know Todd or have information about the events that night?
