Michael Overall, a 23-year-old African American man, was shot and later pronounced dead on November 11, 2017, after being found in the driver’s seat of his blue Chevrolet Impala in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Officers discovered him about 4:16 a.m.; he was taken to St. James Hospital and airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the Cook County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators say Overall was shot through an open car window while driving out of the parking lot at Gyro Express, 1814 Chicago Road. Witnesses identified an 18-year-old Park Forest man, Trevor Keith, as the shooter; police allege he approached the vehicle and fired a single 9mm round. Keith was arrested the next day hiding in a Lynwood trailer home and two firearms, including the 9mm, were recovered. Prosecutors described the killing as gang-related and noted video from the restaurant and parking lot and witness statements; Keith was charged with first-degree murder and denied bail.
Did anyone in the Chicago Heights or Park Forest area see the events near Gyro Express that morning or know Michael Overall’s movements that night?
