Steven W. Flack, 43, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, was pronounced dead on September 3, 2017, at Anderson Hospital after being found in the backyard of a home on Hillscrest Drive with multiple gunshot wounds. Born May 30, 1974, in Kankakee, he worked as an independent landscaper and played in the American Pool Players Association. He was married to Leah Hanley and is survived by a daughter, Brianna Flack, and a stepson, Anthony Perkinton.

Investigators determined Flack was shot during a domestic dispute at a Labor Day weekend gathering. Witnesses described Steven J. McGauley, 47, becoming enraged when Flack intervened while McGauley was beating his wife, Mary McGauley; McGauley then retrieved a firearm and shot Flack five times. McGauley had multiple prior police reports of domestic violence and threats against his wife but no convictions before this incident.

Does anyone who attended that gathering or knew the families have information that could shed more light on what happened that night?
