Kevonte Williams, a 21-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on September 2, 2017, in Dolton, Illinois. He was found late on a Saturday night with multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene despite efforts to save him.
Investigators from the Dolton Police Department and assisting agencies launched an investigation that ran into challenges, including limited witness cooperation and difficulties tracing the firearm. Authorities later identified 30-year-old Torrey Lewis as a suspect; Lewis was arrested in 2018 and charged with Williams’s murder. At the time of that arrest Lewis was on electronic monitoring for a separate murder charge.
Family members took part in vigils and community events seeking justice and calling for an end to local gun violence. Does anyone have information about Kevonte’s last night or the people who were in the Dolton area that evening?
