Darren Martez Henderson, 28, was found dead June 28, 2017, in Madison, Illinois. His body was discovered lying face down in an open field at West 2nd and Jefferson. Authorities reported he had been shot multiple times and believed he was killed at the location where he was found. Henderson was reportedly homeless at the time of his death.
The investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Bryant Adair, a St. Louis resident, who turned himself in to police in north St. Louis and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated, and investigators said additional information obtained from Adair linked him to the fatal shooting. Adair is being held without bond. The motive remains unclear and police have not disclosed whether Adair confessed.
