Anthony Anaya, an 18-year-old male from Harvey, Illinois, was killed on June 3, 2017. Officers who responded to reports of shots fired in the early morning in the 16700 block of South Halsted found Anaya sitting inside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey and died later that day; the Cook County medical examiner ruled the cause of death multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities say two men in another vehicle pulled alongside Anaya’s car and opened fire. Investigators believe the incident grew out of an altercation that began in Chicago and escalated into a retaliatory attack in Harvey. No immediate arrests were made and the case remained open as detectives followed leads.
