Deon Beamon was 21 when he was killed during a home invasion in Harvey, Illinois, on January 8, 2017. Two masked men forced their way into the family home on Calumet Boulevard shortly after the household had finished dinner, ordered Deon, his father and his brother to the floor, and for reasons that remain unclear one attacker fired. Deon died of a gunshot wound to the back; his father was shot in the leg and his brother was severely beaten.
Investigators quickly dismissed robbery as the primary motive and say the family appears to have been targeted. The family had recently moved into the neighborhood, and police found signs they may have been followed or stalked before the attack. Detectives from Harvey worked with investigators in the family’s previous hometown to search for connections, but no arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved.
Did anyone in Harvey or the family’s former community see suspicious vehicles or people around Calumet Boulevard before January 8, 2017?
