Cory Foster Jr., 20, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery in Broadview, Illinois, on December 13, 2016, around 3:30 a.m. Officers who responded to a shots-fired call found him with gunshot wounds in the 2200 block of 25th Avenue; he was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.
Foster Jr. was the son of Cory Foster Sr., a former deputy chief of staff to Governor Pat Quinn and former chief of staff to Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin. Boykin issued condolences and called for meaningful action to curb gun violence. Broadview police and the West Suburban Homicide Task Force are investigating; authorities say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that no arrests or suspects have been identified.
The family and community have called for meetings of law enforcement, elected officials, and community leaders to discuss measures to protect citizens and reduce gun violence. Does anyone have information about that early-morning scene on 25th Avenue or saw anything around 3:30 a.m. on December 13, 2016?
