Joseph Harden was an 18-year-old African American male who was shot on June 1, 2016, near the intersection of Richmond and Sherwood avenues in Markham, Illinois. He was struck once in the back while walking in a residential area around 11 p.m. and died of his injuries at a hospital the following day, June 2.

The Markham Police Department, assisted by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, investigated the killing. Family and friends have held vigils and community meetings seeking justice and encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
