Terri Lynn Johnson, 19, of Joliet, Illinois, was found shot to death on July 2, 1983, near the Will-Cook County line. Her body was discovered inside a car parked in a field alongside 34-year-old Lockport businessman Kenneth Chancellor. The scene and the victims’ injuries prompted an intensive investigation.

Authorities later linked Terri Lynn Johnson’s killing to Milton Johnson, 33 at the time, who began a summer 1983 killing spree after being paroled earlier that year. Milton Johnson’s attacks included the June 25 murders of sisters Zita Blum, 66, and Honora Lahmann, 67, and a July 16 incident in Homer Township that left five people dead, including two auxiliary deputies. He was arrested in March 1984 and charged with multiple murders, among them the deaths of Terri Lynn Johnson and Kenneth Chancellor; prosecutors described him at trial as remorseless and he was convicted and sentenced to death, a sentence later commuted to life.

Does anyone have memories of Terri Lynn, Kenneth Chancellor, or details about the July 2 scene that could help preserve what happened to them?
