Kenneth Rackley, 19, was shot and killed at Washington Park in Roxbury during a crowded basketball tournament on July 25, 2010. First responders found him with a gunshot wound to the back; he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The shooting scattered the crowd and left his family grieving a life cut short.
The Boston Police Department opened a homicide investigation and canvassed the park, appealing to many witnesses who had been at the tournament. Investigators reported that fear and reluctance to cooperate from those present hindered efforts to identify a suspect. The case was later classified as a cold case and has been periodically reviewed by the District Attorney’s cold case unit; no one has been charged.
Who was at Washington Park that night and might recall what happened or saw someone leave the scene?
