On November 12, 2022, 37-year-old Brandy Smith and her 17-year-old daughter Raven Smith were found inside their home on Stephenson Lane in Hammond, Louisiana, both suffering gunshot wounds. A family member discovered them and placed a 911 call at about 2:30 a.m. Deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived to find Brandy Smith dead at the scene; Raven was alive but later died at a local hospital.

Investigators treated the deaths as a domestic homicide and identified a person of interest described as a companion of Brandy Smith.
