In autumn 2022, 18-year-old Travis TJ Richardson Jr., a Gonzales native and resident, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery on John Broussard Road in Prairieville, Louisiana. Law enforcement says Richardson and a 20-year-old accomplice, Kayden Joseph Killian of St. Amant, had conspired to rob a resident. When the two arrived, the homeowner was armed and opened fire. Richardson was fatally wounded at the scene; Killian fled in a vehicle that was hit by gunfire and was later treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound.
Investigators determined Richardson and Killian planned the robbery together, and a warrant was issued for Killian’s arrest. Killian surrendered and was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Richardson’s death, plus attempted armed robbery, criminal conspiracy/armed robbery, and multiple drug possession counts involving fentanyl, clonazolam, and marijuana. The homeowner was not charged, with authorities describing the shooting as self-defense during the attempted robbery.
If anyone knew Richardson, Killian, or saw activity on John Broussard Road that night, can you share what you remember?
