Trevon Henderson, 21, was shot and killed while entering a residence on Lessard Street in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, on the evening of October 10, 2022. Deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at about 8:45 p.m. and found Henderson’s body at the scene.

Present at the home was 31-year-old Perry Smith Jr., who was identified as the suspect and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with negligent homicide and illegal use of a weapon in connection with Henderson’s death. Initial reports indicate the shooting may have resulted from a mistaken belief that Henderson was an intruder; the nature of the relationship between Henderson and Smith and why Henderson was entering the residence that night remain central to the investigation.

Does anyone have information about Henderson, his movements that evening, or the relationship between him and Smith?
