On the morning of Saturday, October 1, 2022, a gunshot was reported on the 100 block of East 21st Street in Reserve, Louisiana. Deputies from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical services responded and found 70-year-old Andrew Turcuit Sr. suffering fatal gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives identified 21-year-old Ashley Johnson-Washington of Reserve as the person responsible. Investigators say she was the girlfriend of Turcuit’s son and that evidence suggested an argument took place before Johnson-Washington fatally shot Turcuit through a closed door. She fled afterward; a BOLO was issued and she turned herself in to a neighboring agency on the evening of October 2. She was transferred to St. John Parish on October 3 and booked on a charge of second-degree murder.
Turcuit was remembered by friends and family as a dedicated family man and a passionate musician. Does anyone have information about the events on East 21st Street that morning or knew Andrew Turcuit Sr.?
