In the early morning of September 3, 2022, Alejandro Quiroz, 43, was shot twice in the parking lot of a convenience store on Loyola Drive in Kenner, Louisiana. Officers found Quiroz wounded about 4:00 AM; he was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
Witnesses and surveillance footage showed Quiroz with an acquaintance earlier that night. Video captured the man arriving on a motorcycle, buying beer and beef jerky, then drinking with Quiroz. He left and returned about two hours later on a bicycle, hid behind a dumpster, retrieved a pistol from a backpack, and approached Quiroz, shooting him in the chest, face, and head before fleeing.
Kenner detectives used surveillance evidence and public tips to identify Oswaldo Dacuhna as the suspect; he was arrested in Vinton, Louisiana, on a homicide warrant and unrelated drug charges. In November 2024 a jury convicted Dacuhna of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice for disposing of the 9mm semiautomatic pistol. The lead Kenner Police detective, Sergeant Peter Foltz, suffered a fatal medical incident while driving to the courthouse to testify.
Did anyone in the Kenner area know Quiroz or see him with the man who returned that night?
