A dispute between roommates in a Kenner apartment turned fatal on June 2, 2022, when 22-year-old James Parker was shot five times in the hallway of a residence in the 4500 block of Williams Boulevard. One of the gunshot wounds was to the back of Parker’s head. His 26-year-old roommate, Cade Fuxan, called police after the shooting and admitted to firing the shots, saying he acted in self-defense.
Police said the shooting capped months of friction between the two men, including a prior physical fight that left Fuxan with facial and body injuries and an altercation just days before the fatal encounter. On the night Parker was killed, another fight broke out; Fuxan alleged he tried to retreat but that Parker charged him, prompting him to open fire. Parker and Fuxan were alone in the apartment they shared with Parker’s brother and a sister who was dating Fuxan.
Does anyone have information about the lead-up to the June 2 confrontation or about tensions in that household?
