On the evening of May 30, 2022, 37-year-old Cedrick Mumphrey was outside a residence on West Second Street in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, when he was struck by multiple gunshots. He was taken to Prevost Memorial Hospital and later died of his injuries. Investigators recovered about 45 spent shell casings at the scene and found that Mumphrey’s home—occupied at the time by an adult female and three children—had been struck by numerous rounds.

Neighbor video showed Mumphrey speaking with another man in a driveway when three people wearing dark clothing and masks approached, produced handguns, and opened fire before fleeing. With community assistance, law enforcement identified the three shooters as Donovan Starks, then 21, Johntez Ezeff, then 21, and 17-year-old Jatyrin Powe; warrants were issued and by mid-June 2022 all three were taken into custody. Starks and Ezeff were charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and property damage; Powe faced those counts plus illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

Does anyone have information about Mumphrey’s life in Donaldsonville or additional details about the night of the shooting?
