A planned purchase arranged through Facebook Marketplace ended in the death of 24-year-old Morgan Tyrone on April 10, 2022. Tyrone, a resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi, traveled to Gretna, Louisiana with her partner and their 13-month-old son to buy an iPhone 13 for $300. They believed they were meeting a female seller at an apartment complex on Friedrichs Road.
A man using the woman’s Facebook profile, later identified as 21-year-old Daniel Tenner of Jackson, Mississippi, approached their minivan. As the exchange faltered and Tyrone turned to put the cash away, Tenner produced a pistol and shot her in the back of the head. He then threatened her partner, took the money, and fled. Tyrone’s partner obtained help from a passerby to call 911.
An anonymous tip to Crimestoppers helped identify Tenner and his location; a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force arrested him. A Jefferson Parish jury convicted Tenner of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and obstruction of justice on August 15, 2023, and he received life plus 139 years; the sentencing hearing included victim-impact testimony from Tyrone’s mother, older brother, and partner.
Did anyone in the Gretna area see the minivan or recall unusual activity near the apartment complex on Friedrichs Road that day?
