On the evening of February 13, 2022, a Super Bowl gathering in a home on the 600 block of Emile Avenue in Westwego, Louisiana, ended in gunfire. Fifty-year-old Charles Woodrow McGehee Sr. was fatally shot while a group of friends watched the game by a single light bulb on an extension cord. A momentary power outage plunged the room into darkness, and when the light returned both McGehee and a 28-year-old man were found shot.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office identified Curtis Thomas III as the suspect; he was arrested and booked on one count of second-degree murder in McGehee’s death and one count of attempted second-degree murder in the shooting of the other man. The case concluded with Thomas convicted and sentenced to life for second-degree murder, plus additional time for the attempted murder and for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Did anyone in the Westwego area attend that gathering or have information about the events that night?
