Charlene CeeCee Jones, 48, was shot to death in the pre-dawn hours of January 27, 2022, while seated in her car in the parking lot of the Gatehouse Apartments in Metairie, Louisiana. Jefferson Parish deputies found the grandmother deceased at the scene; initial leads were scarce and family said Jones had no known enemies.
Investigators say jealousy over Jones’s boyfriend led to a murder-for-hire plot. Police turned their attention to 49-year-old Monica Every, the ex-girlfriend of Jones’s new boyfriend, after reports of harassment that allegedly escalated into soliciting a hit. Authorities identified 26-year-old Deja Walls’ vehicle on surveillance as the getaway car, and later located a hired gunman, Louis Gordon, in Florida.
Every and Walls were arrested and charged with second-degree murder and solicitation for murder; Gordon faced second-degree murder and conspiracy charges. In court Every was convicted as a principal to second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and solicitation for second-degree murder. Gordon was convicted of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and obstruction of justice, and both received life sentences.
If anyone knew Charlene CeeCee Jones, her routines, or saw activity at the Gatehouse Apartments that morning, please share what was seen or heard.
