Tramone McGinnis was 17 when he was found fatally shot inside his Plaquemine, Louisiana, home. His parents heard a loud noise during the night, and on the morning of January 5, 2022 his father found him on the couch and initially thought he was asleep. Tramone had been shot behind his ear and in his arm; he was taken to a nearby hospital and died later that morning.
Investigators focused on a local teenager, 14-year-old Lee’Vonte Riley, who was detained and questioned the same day. Police believed the shooting was not random but a planned attack tied to an ongoing violent dispute between local gangs, and that the shooting likely occurred inside the McGinnis residence. Riley was transported to a juvenile facility in Alabama because of space shortages locally.
More than ten months after the shooting a grand jury indicted Riley on second-degree murder, illegal possession of a weapon, and obstruction of justice. Does anyone in the Plaquemine community have information about Tramone, the dispute, or the night he was killed?
