In the fall of 2021, 37-year-old Pamela Adair was fatally shot during a violent home invasion in Livingston, Louisiana. On October 9, an armed man entered her residence and shot Pamela and her significant other, Joseph Schexnayder, multiple times. Schexnayder survived in critical condition; Pamela died of her wounds. Two of the couple’s children, ages 13 and 15, were in the home during the attack and one other child survived her.
Authorities later identified Matthew Mire as the shooter. Investigators say Mire had earlier shot two people at a mobile home park in Livingston Parish and stolen a vehicle before the attack at Adair’s home. Mire’s actions that day reportedly continued, and a large manhunt followed his movements. Mire was taken into custody.
