Janell Ferrara, 56, was found dead at her home in Metairie, Louisiana, in September 2021 after authorities conducted a welfare check. Investigators determined she had been shot and the death was treated as a homicide. Attention turned to her boyfriend, Erick Marenco, who was identified as a person of interest and was reported missing after the discovery.

Investigators tracked Marenco out of state and located him in Scott County, Mississippi, where deputies arrested him without incident. He was extradited to Jefferson Parish and booked on one count of second-degree murder in connection with Ferrara’s death. Her family is awaiting the judicial process.
