On September 3, 2021, five days after Hurricane Ida, 36-year-old Dwayne Nosacka was shot and killed during a dispute at a Chevron station on Clearview Parkway in Metairie. The argument began after another driver, 22-year-old Walter Sippio, cut into the fuel line. Witnesses say the confrontation escalated when Sippio went to his car, returned with a handgun, and shot Nosacka in the chest as Nosacka raised his hands. Sippio fled but later surrendered to authorities and turned in the weapon.
Sippio was charged with second-degree murder. A jury in the first trial could not reach a unanimous verdict, producing a mistrial. As a retrial was being prepared in January 2024, Sippio pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 25 years in prison; at sentencing he offered an apology to Nosacka’s family after prompting from the judge.
If anyone witnessed the September 3 confrontation or has information that hasn’t been shared with investigators, please come forward.
